Pleased that Jemimah is seeming a bit better now. She had a big operation so will be feeling a bit off colour for a while but with your love, care and all the healing vibes being sent will soon be back to her normal self.

Glad she is seeming a bit brighter and wishing her a speedy recovery! Everything always happens all at once and always at the wrong time! Healing vibes and support from me and my girls x
 
We've been to the vet for her post op checkup and she seems a bit brighter today.
Physically all is well it's probably pain that's been causing her trials over the weekend.
She now has extra painkillers to be given during the day (dribble onto the gums!!) and that seems to be helping. Husband drove into the vet hospital in Swindon yesterday to collect the extra meds as I had to work.
I was discussing this with vet Kiri this morning when I said that the Loxicom tended to be wearing off during the day and she was in pain by the afternoon, having read forum threads I knew that piggies metabolise pain killers quickly so the single dose isn't enough. Kiri said that as they see so few guinea pigs what is known and understood about vet care for them is limited, hence the daily dose.
Anyway I now have the Vetegesic to complement the Loxicom, more Emereprid and with the recovery feed plus a probiotic I'm having a ball trying to get it all into her.
She was brighter this morning, eating hay and polishing off a slice of cucumber so hopefully with everything she's getting she will continue to improve.
Kiri wants an update during the week and we go again next Monday.
I cannot sing the praises of the vets highly enough - they have been outstanding.
I highly recommend Drove Vets in Swindon and surrounding towns.

Even the car isn't as sick as I thought it was - it still needs repair and will cost me but at least I can use it today - so school assembly at lunchtime then car to garage to be fixed, hopefully.

That'll be an opiate for the pain which will help along with metacam. The emeprid should help with any motility issues too so the vets sound well on the ball buddy

Glad Jemimah (and your car!) are doing a bit better today! You've certainly got a lot going on, hope things get back to normal soon. How is lovely floof Merab? Jezebel floof sends floofy happy thoughts to you and your herd because she's full of good floofy vibes (and coriander) x
 
Car is fixed and Jemimah is much brighter. The extra boost of painkillers and gut motility stuff is working.
I can’t believe how excited I was when she pooed in my hand!
She also rewarded us for shoving more meds into her with more poo. I feel much more relieved now.
She’s fighting the critical care feed with more passion now too.
I think I aged 10 years this weekend.

oh crumbs i've just caught up with this... cor blimey- you really are going through it aren't you?!?!?
Glad to hear Jemimah is improving (&the car is on the road again) none of my lot have ever liked the CC they have gone nuts for the Supreme recovery though. also if you have any of the food dust at the bottom of your pellets bag, try adding warm water to it & she may like it more than the CC just to keep her eating properly :)

With merabs, if its any help, my 6yr old Ellie had an ovarian cyst approx walnut sized, discovered by conscious ultrasound. she had two batches of HCG hormone injections & the lump decreased in size within a few weeks, her coat was supersoft & her continuous UTI's cleared up with no genital bleeding afterwards (her main symptom & why she was scanned for investigation).
She wasnt particularly grumpy or hormonal, no crut nipples or hair thinning.... but she was far more relaxed & chilled out after the injections :love:

Thanks for this - I just started a thread asking for info on injections so this is greatly appreciated.
Merab's only symptom is slightly thinning fur on her side so hopefully the cysts are not too big.
 
Isn't there a floof thread already somewhere?
Or maybe I'm thinking of the Floof Club and we could piggyback onto that.

Jemimah is starting to eat by herself - not much but she is really resisting the syringe feeding.
I managed to get her meds into her this morning but decided not to attempt the syringe feed and just watch her.
She tucked into the hay as soon as I put her back and she is getting vocal again so I think she's on the mend.
I have to remind myself she's been through major surgery and will take time to get over it.
 
She’s definitely tucking into veggies and munching some hay.
It’s difficult to keep an eye on her - as soon as I’m around she hides in a tunnel with her best “I’m really miserable slave- feel guilty for what you’re doing to me” look.
I caught her this afternoon sitting out beside Merab in the hay and veggies but the moment she realised I was approaching she dived for cover.
