It this brush ok for Patrick’s type of coat

Is this type of brush ok for Patrick’s type of coat. I’ve never brushed him but have noticed he has quite a few seed heads close to his skin.

If not what type of brushes do you use? Many thanks.

I used a much softer brush but don't have any pics. I found those to be a bit harsh, I tried it on my arm. It could be ok if brushed very softly I guess.

Same as Claire W, I used a soft baby brush for long haired Basil pig when he was with us.

Luckily Christian never needed brushing.

Thanks everyone. Hmmmm. I don’t think a soft brush will go through as it’s very dense and the seeds are near the skin and not visible.

I have a normal comb for Misty and a metal comb for Bramble.

A comb like Misty's is probably best for Patrick as he has smooth fur. It gets all the "treasures" out of Misty's fur.

I used one like Misty’s one today and it was quite good. He was squeaking quite a bit but did lay down so I think he was just being dramatic.

It sounds like he's a bit of a drama queen. He was probably squeaking cos he's not used to it. Do it often enough and he won't mind it so much. I always give Misty and Bramble and cuddle before and some coriander after comb time. They are not keen when I go "up tails" but it's the only way I can get their bums tangle free.

I find combs the best as they offer more fine control and access to the fur near the skin. They pick up lots of dead hair and bits of hay, mats etc, and distribute hair oil nicely. My piggies enjoy being combed on their backs and shoulders, but are nervous around their bums understandably so if they get wriggly I go back to doing their backs for a while.
