I have noticed tonight that Disney was having a good old icth and also biting her side ..... is this a sign of mites?

Her coat has always felt thinner than Paris .... she is eating normal but when I hold her and stroke her she nudges my hand with her head and nose, I am not sure what this means ....

Am I being over protective? and also how do piggies catch mites, I have had them for 6 weeks this weekend

My vet told me piggies have a small amount of mites all the time and changes to the enviroment or an illness can cause them to become excessive amounts which then cause piggies problems. Please someone correct me if I am wrong but that was what I was told.

Anyway when I first thought george had mites his coat was lovely and normal but his was itching and biting his rump and he had a bit of a scabby foot which the vet said was probably from excessive cleaning (the vet also said he could see some dandruff which I could not see even when really trying to look).

A check up wouldn't hurt sorry I can't be of anymore help :)

I was also told that too Briony.

Some of my pigs bite and scratch at their fur from time to time - sometimes I suppose they just have a really bad itch that they want rid of! If there's no flaky skin or redness I'm sure it's OK.
