I have to share the silliness of the pigs!

Today on Sams advice I went to home bargains and got two of those fleece cat beds for the guineas, one for each cage (£3.99 each a total bargain!)

I cleaned out each cage and put them in, they are the warmest, snuggliest looking fleece things ever. I couldn't wait until they got in and snuggled down - I had my camera at the ready.

Did they go in? Did they heck as like! Instead individually in each cage they have got about 12 inches away from it - sniffed the air by it and run off full pelt in the other direction! Clearly the wonderful snuggly new beds are NOT to be trusted :(|):(|). It's been 3 hours now and still NO ONE has gone next to one never mind in them.

I put a paper bag in each cage too and they have ALL been inside those or had a nibble, they have obv decided that they are okay - it's just the beds that will clearly try and kill them. DOH!

Mind you, when I made some cuddle beds for mine, I thought they weren't using them. Then I found them full of poop. They were obviously waiting for me to leave the room. :))
 
Haha typical!

Saying that mine never liked their armchairs but now i cant get them out of them! I'm sure that with time they will be cuddling up in them and realise they are nice and comfy. :))
 
Mine went on the chairs straight away and the crash pads!

How are your armchairs doing? Mine are rank :)>>>

I wash them once a week and they are starting to fall apart but they ADORE them. I think I need to get another couple.

I have sat watching the cage for aaaaaages. They are completely freaked out by them. Bessie (the biggest scaredy pig of all) just sniffed it from about 2 inches away before deciding they were the scariest thing ever. But she's been the bravest so far!
 
I wash mine regular too, but they love them soo much they make a fuss and protest when i have to take them out to be cleaned! They seem to go in them in the night when its dark and sleep in the hayloft in the day, so mine arent too bad yet. :)
 
mine don't seem to be poo'd on just a little wee and lots of hay and poo. i **** only wash them everyother week as they don't really use them as a toilet :)) i do hover them though about twice a week and use one of those lint rollers to get off all the hair twice a week also!

Those beds look cool I'm going to get one monday x
 
Nope didn't wash them, maybe that's it..

Going to give it until the morning and then if no joy i'll wash them and then see.

Strange little creatures!

I need some new pics of mine, they haven't had their photo taken for aaaages. I'm hopeless so going to get hubby to do it :(|);).

aaw ill try and get some good ones. iv got one of craig mounting david :{ think i might delete that one haha.....

its hard to capture their cuteness on the camera xx
 
I sometimes wonder if fabric items have a smell which we can't detect, because I've had cats who behave in the same way. Buy them a lovely new soft cosy bed, and they won't have anything to do with it - not until it's been around for ages, and presumably picked up my or their scent.
 
They might have realised they are cat beds and are worried there is a moggy inside waiting to get them! :))

I was going to buy one too, are they too big for my cage?
 
When I bought the ladybug snuggle sac things from eBay, mine were very wary of them. I stuck them through the wash and they were fine after that :)
 
One of them was in there today sleeping!

Lets hope they start to sleep in there more regularly.

Hoggle&ludo they are BIG - I would expect them to fit downstairs and take up about a third of the space of the cage. On the plus side if they would share they are plenty big enough for 2.
 
Thats good news Lisa that at least one of them likes it and they dont think its from outer space! :))
 
where are the piccies of your piggies we have not seen them in ages! Glad you have convinced them to use it! I have a pyramid bed and it is not the favourite of the houses i own :(

Eleanor you're so right! I haven't taken photos of my kids or my guineas for ages and that's really not like me. I love taking photos on my Lumix too so I'm not sure quite what's up with me!

It was Gypsy who braved the house, it's all fleece so they should love it.

I don't have a photo of her in the bed but here she is using a cuddle thing

Gypsy is one of the chippenham pigs and she was a complete freaked out mess coming here. I have to say she is one of the tamest pigs here now. She's great!
 
Thanks for the piccie but think you need to do a humpreys 14 type shoot or a wiebke un we want to see them all!
 
It's true! I am going to get Cy to do it for me sometime this next week.

I DO need a big photo shoot you are so right.

Yep that's tiny! I need to get some photos - I get the hint LOL!
