hi everyone, i have just a few guineapig secets,

1. if you are using soap to clean your guineapig cages, you shouldn't it leaves a toxic resadue, i recoment vinegar!

2. avoid cages or runs with wired or wood botoms, they get there feet stuck!

3. some vets are trained to heel dogs cats or horses, etc. but not small animals, try 3 vets for diffrent optoins on sick guineapigs.

i have more so if you want them just ask!
see you

Number two isn't really accurate. One of the main problems of wire bottoms - as well as getting feet stuck and ripping nails off - is that the uneven pressure on the pigs foot pad can cause bumblefoot, a very serious foot infection.

Vets receive one (1) lecture on rodent (note: doesn't specialise in guinea pigs) veterinary care and after that they are left to learn more if they are interested to. It's not better to try three different vets as they could all be wrong. It's perhaps a better idea to connect yourself with a great guinea pig network (such as a forum) where the members (and rescues!) there can link you with a specialist or known-decent rodent-friendly vet.

For example, I have befriended Thistle Cavies Rescue which uses a great guinea pig vet who many of my cavy-savvy friends would trust with their pigs life. In an emergency I'd opt more to go to him than to cart my pigs to three different vets where one of the three might put my pig under stressful and un-necessary tests.

hi, yea your right on the 3rd and the 2nd but i would say there useful for begeners... i think, do you?

anyway cya soon.

I think accurate and complete information is useful for beginners, not snippets. There's no point in learning half of what you should know.

What is good is that you brought the three points up, as there may be members and newbies on here who weren't aware of these points (particularly the joys of cleaning with vinegar solution!) yet :)
