Ivormec, where do you buy yours from?

As the title says really. Think I've spelt it right but it's the mite treatment. I need a cheap supplier so the cheapest and reliable please.

You can get the xeno 450 spot on here - they also sell the xeno 50 for smaller piggies

Depending on how many pigs you “NEED†to treat you may be better going for 0.8% ivermec (pharamac ) drops .

Though it is more concentrated than xeno 450 so you need to be more careful , if you are treating one or two pigs I would go for xeno 450

but if you have a large heard with an outbreak of mites It’s cheaper to use 0.8% pharemec

Some folk go for the large animal 1% pharmacy (ivermec same thing) but you have to bear in mind that there are harmful side effects , and some vets will not inject ivermec , as it is not licensed for gp’s , they will sell you , or apply eone 450 ,( it is ivermec but is much more diluted).

N B if you have a serve case of burrowing or mange mites Trixacarus caviae, then often the only option is to go for the full strength by injection

I want something for my herd of 7 as I think since we bonded the last 2 in there there has been break of mites. Is it ok to use the 0.8% ivermec "just incase" they get mites from each other? So like a preventative treatment.

I have been taking them to the vets for injections but if it isn't severe then it is just costing a fortune. So any advice welcome x

The pharame 0.8% ivermec is sold in a small bottle and would probably treat 50 or more pigs , but it would be a false economy for you as you only have 7 , and once it is opened , I believe it’s potency decrees relatively quickly , so if you pay £26 and only have 1 or 2 infected pigs , by the time you next needed to use it , your bottle may be useless .

Where as the xenon 450 costs aprox £16 for 6 individually sealed treatments , so if you needed to treat 1 or 2 pigs , you would still have 4 sealed pipettes . See data sheet http://www.noahcompendium.co.uk/Genitrix_Ltd/documents/S4781.html


I know someone will probably say best treat them all , but unless they all run together , I would be inclined to recommend you only treat the infected pig/s , as ivermec like most drugs can wreak a gp’s renal (kidney ) system .

Treating them all may be fine for a breeder that has to protect his investment
