I sit here feeling absolutely desolate and heartbroken. I awoke yesterday to the sentence no mother wants to hear 'mumm the guineas wont wake up'

I ran into the room and saw they had both vomited and died. Now this was 7am. At 3am when I came home from a gig they were alive and well running about like daft sods.
Why did they die?

Together?

I cant work out why they died and its hurting me. I called the vets and they said that since it had happened over 3 hours they wouldnt do a PM. Now I know that seems extreme but I needed to know why!

I loved those lads. They made me and my son so happy id never met a GP as friendly as Jamie to say he was a rescue he was fearless and so loved people.

I cant make head nor tail of it what do you think?

RIP boys and thanks so much for making me so happy we will miss you so much!

really sorry to hear about your loss....

So sorry for your loss, guineas cannot vomit though. That is why anything that comes out from an upset tum comes out the bottom end.

Have they been on the grass together? They could have eaten contaminated food or some poisonous plant that you were unaware of.

How awful for you to find both of them like that. :(

Did you put anything in their cage before you went to bed?

Sorry for your loss :( xx>>> RIP boys xx>>>

So very sorry to hear this sad news. At least they will be at Rainbow Bridge together. Run free little ones and know that you will be sadly missed..

Oh I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, what awful news. Rest in peace x

Sorry for your loss.. R.I.P Little ones.

I never knew guinea pigs could vomit? Are you sure they hadn't choked up some thick tufts of hay? Or chewed something they shouldn't?

I'm so sorry for your losses, the heartbreak is familiar to many of us, and it is often so much harder when you lose multiple pigs in a short space of time.

Piggies are physically unable to vomit. A very rare condition can be present in some pigs whereby they can, but it's hardly ever heard of. Dribbling of food that is often stored at the back of the mouth may be the cause of the substance that had come from their mouths. Poisoning sounds a likely possibility. I'm sorry.

Rest well, Jack and Jamie. xx

What a terrible terrible thing for you.

As others have said they can't vomit.... I wonder if it was poisoning? Was there a gas/ paraffin fire on in their room?

Sleep well, little boys xx

thanks so much for your thoughts and wishes I'm still in bits. I just dont know what happened.

Ive looked and sites say that it would take 8 hours to poision is that so?

If thats true then I dont know how it happened cos no one but me had been near them all day. They hadnt been outside and they hay was the same hay I always use.

I looked through the bedding and found nothing

The 'vomit' was just slime really god i cant think about it

You know i NEVER thought id be like this over the pigs I cannot get over how badly affected I am more than my son even.
I feel so responsible I mean Jack was only 2 and 1/2! I dont know how old Jamie was as he was a rescue great job I did at rescuing him!!

I just cant work out what it was! Ive never felt so awful.

I'm so very sorry to hear that you have lost both Jack and Jamie 8...8...8...

((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))) and loves from me xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Please, please don't belt yourself over this, we all feel your pain and want to share with you our concern and wish you all the best xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I am so sorry to hear about your boys 8...8...8...

Don't spend your time trying to work out why. You will only hurt & punish yourself more. I have had pigs die as a result of accidents I could have prevented & the guilt is sometimes so strong, but you need to grieve. :0:0

Remember the joy & love they brought into your lives. x) Hold onto your precious memoreis & try to remember the good - not the bad. Guilt serves no purpose - believe me, I know.

Know that they will be together over the rainbow bridge, running free & being looked after by the piggies who have gone before them.

My manly quintet send hugs & squeaks to you

Michele

So sorry to hear about Jack and Jamie.
I just don't know what to say to help you feel better :(
It does sound as though they had eaten something poisonous, perhaps the day or so before? The thing is, you may never know but if they were fine shortly before, then try to remember them like that ... happy.

Run free J & J xx

thanks so much guys i honestly dont know!
Can sawdust kill? Its the only thing we did different? xx

Sawdust can lead to respiratry problems, i dont know much more, although i do want to say I think you are a fantastic piggy mummy, look how broken you are, of course this isnt your fault. Before my piggy days started i had 4 rats and one morning i awoke to all 4 dead on the bottom of the cage the only thing i could think of was sickness due to the poor quality of the petshop i got them from and yes i did beat myself up over it but i realised how there was nothing i could have done and i bet if you really think about it you will know you were a fantastic mum to them dont blame yourself just remember as much as we love our little furries they do pass away so much easier than dogs or cats which is why it hurts even more RIP Jack & Jamiexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxrun free sweet piggysxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks so much
Its all I can think of and naturally I wont be using that one again.
Thanks for kind words xx

hi of course it will still hurt for a long time, but i see you are getting 2 more guinea pigs, which is fantastic it tends to heal if you have something to take your mind off whats happened and two little wheeking piggys might just be the thing that you need:)
