Being pretty new to piggies, I'm starting to realise what filthy beggars the little wheekers are :{ - lol!

My rabbits just eat their food, they don't stand in it, poo in in, traipse it all over their accommodation and generally make a mess with it. They eat their hay, whereas piggies seem to like spreading it as far and wide as possible. And boy, do piggies shed hair :(. I seem to be forever sweeping up in their cage - usually about 4 times a day! How can two little people create such a mess??

think pigs and guinea pigs are not related.... but i am sure there are some things that should be shared such as instead of living in a hutch it should be called a sty!

I have decided that the proper mass noun for my tribe is a "poo of piggies" - I collect several handfuls from my lot every day! However, they are a little bit better behaved with their food and won't poo in it until after it's all finished. They also don't pee in their food.

However, some piggies are scattier than others!

Piggies can be hairing a lot. However, it's always worth checking for mites if there is lot of it.

Sometimes I shake the poos off the fleece in my piggy cage and after a day there is a whole dustpan full of poos. That's a lot of pooping!

Haha, I'm not sure i feel sorry for you lol, ive got 25 piggys lol

LOL! Gosh 25 poopers

What kind of piggies do you have? I've noticed that my black with a little brown (think that the colouring is called tortoise shell?) shed quite a bit. Or it seems to get stuck in the fleece more than the other piggies hair if they all shed the same. It even comes through to the inco pads underneath!

My lot could poo for Wales! its crazy how much poos they do in one day and thats why i hoover out mine every night cos the amount they do! they also like to sit in their own wee sometimes and poo ends up in their food bowls!

When mine had water bowls rather than bottles, they used to flick the poops into the water! Then they would expand and go mushy urgh

Yep I see a lot of mushy poos - they will do a pile of poo in their playpen then they wee over it and I get piles of soggy mess on the floor - yuk!

Ive noticed this too - Leo bunny only poos in his nest box in his hutch always in a neat pile.

The guineas poo/wee anywhere and everywhere - but not in their food.

Monty use to be a right lazy boy when he lived outside would sit all day in a wet pile of hay expecting me to clean him up but since moving inside he seems much better and nice and dry.

Guinea pigs can be messy. But my two little guys are in separate cages. They still make a big mess, around and in their cages, though. Smorez rips all the hay out of his hay roller, but then doesn't eat most of it.

Don't know I'm afraid. Most of it seems to be Beryl's as it's long and white but neither has mites as they've just been Ivermec'd.

Seriously though, I don't mind clearing up after them - I'm just amazed at how much mess they can make. I do like their cage to look pristine (:red) but I think I'm gonna have to live with the mess. They give me a quizzical look every time I lean in to sweep up the poops and hay as if to say "why bother, we're only gonna spread it all around again just as soon as you're finished"..............

I have 45 little poo machines at the min. Some of them eat for England too so they just never stop pooing lol A piggy must produce it's own weight in poo over a 48hrs period lol
