Does anyone know what this is? Pretty sure it's come from either Jasmine or Pickle. Should I be worried? It doesn't smell, and is a jelly-like substance.

Hi! I would recommend to have your girls' reproductive tract checked during regular opening hours at your convenience. It is not an emergency, but it can indicate that there is an issue with ovarian cysts or the womb.

Thanks! What would the vet do when checking their reproductive tracts? Is there anything in particular to look out for?

I agree with Wiebke - that definitely isn’t normal and a vets trip is advisable (sorry). They will feel for any tenderness, enlargement, ovarian cysts etc. Some vets may perform a scan.

Is she likely to be in any pain? I have seen something like the jelly before a year ago (and I wasn't sure which pig it was from then either), but nothing more until yesterday. I heard Pickle squeaking while weeing this morning, but there's no calcium deposit and no blood. I wasn't sure if Jasmine had just made her disgruntled when brushing past her. Could the two be related?

I'm not looking to avoid taking them to the vet; I'm just trying to gather as much information as possible beforehand. :)

I am very sorry but as we haven't been there to witness the situation it is impossible to say for us. I would however decidedly not think that the two are are connected nor - with the absence of you reporting any of the more typical symptoms that I would connect with pain in the abdominal/reproductive area - would I assume that your girl is in any pain.
I am NOT going to tell you want to look out for as this will simply force you to obsessively check for what is basically NOT there, seeing that you are suffering from anxiety; it will only make things worse and spoil your life even further.

This is NOT an emergency but as it can potentially develop into more serious issues later on, it is something that you should have checked as a precautionary measure ideally in the next 2-3 weeks (as you can around the holidays) so it can be dealt with early on. There is no reason to panic. ;)

Don't worry, I'm not panicking! :) I just want to make sure I'm prepared, especially as they're both recovering from mites and excessive scratching (as posted on another thread) which seems to have lingered for ages.

We had the vet appointment this evening. He couldn't find anything wrong or that would be cause for concern with their reproductive tracts, and he couldn't find a cause for Pickle's squeaking while weeing either. I feel like a hypochondriac on the pigs' behalf, but neither the jelly or the squeaking while weeing are normal. I guess that he found nothing is good...

Soooooo, this morning, Pickle weed without any issues - yay! However, less than two minutes later, I heard a painful squeak so I went to check. Pickle had her back to me, so I saw what looked like her peeing a sticky, stringy, white globule which stuck to her bottom and the fleece liner.

I got some kitchen roll and dabbed the mess on the fleece, only to find that a slightly misshapen, rounded small poo was beneath/encased in it.

Could it be that the issue be when she's pooping instead? The photo below isn't great, but you can see the yellow/cream discolouration on the paper towel along with the poo hidden in it.

There have been misshapen poos in the cage for a while (which I'm assuming are Pickle's), and virtually no calcium deposits in the wee. Has anyone come across this before?!

Of course it's Christmas Eve and I'm in work. I'll book another appointment when the vet's is open again, but for now, any ideas?

Thanks!
