Oh dear, just noticed today that Jezebel floofy pants is missing a lot of floof fur on her bottom again... she's just finished fur mite treatment and the whole herd have had 3 doses of Xeno 450, 2 weeks apart, and all their fleece hot washed twice a week and their cardboard and edible furniture thrown away every week and the cage cleaned with F10 and even all the floor under the cage vacuum cleaned and disinfected every week and the cage grids cleaned... really hope this isnt ringworm caught from new piggy Blod, we've been super careful with infection control (feeding main herd before Blod, wearing gloves then using F10 hand gel after handling Blod, different clothes for handling Blod, antifungal laundry detergent and shower gel, Blod lives upstairs in quarantine and only comes downstairs after the others are shut in the piggy room the I get busy with F10 spray). Would ringworm ever appear only on the bottom? What else might cause hairloss if it isnt mites or fungal? We have a vet appointment friday, unfortunately this week piggy daddy is on a training course up north until wednesday night and I'm lecturing until 6 on thursday so friday's the earliest we can do... the rest of the main herd have no fur loss anywhere (I checked very thoroughly and they got very cross!) and Jezzy isnt scratching or itching and hasnt lost her appetite and is very cheeky today... just her bottom floof fur has fallen out...

Its very bad timing as I really hoped Blod pig could meet Aunty Jezebel floof soon, I guess Jez needs some skin scrapes taken now too... 2 piggies in quarantine will be tricky to manage if it comes to that!

Its a bit disheartening now Blod is on the mend, I hoped everyone could be a lovely big herd by xmas, and although I have 2 quarantine cages (3 actually) I don't have 2 spare rooms so if it is ringworm I dont know how to proceed unless Jezzy lived in my bedroom (she'd love that though, I just have to fill that cheeky little floof face with coriander every time she looks at me!). Hopefully the vet can shed some light and do lots of skin and fur tests... the mite diagnosis was on the basis of 1 mite on 1 piggy so maybe I should have had more tests done at the time, but "see bald spot, see mite, prescibe Xeno" seemed pretty obvious... no pig else has any missing fur, they are all very glossy and winter coat fluffy... for now anyway hopefully touch wood!
