Hello. I adopted a two year old guinea pig who was being left in a small wooden cage in someone's yard with no hay, bedding ect. Just a bowl of cheap pellets and water. She has the most georgeous nature. I've had her now about four months. She loves her hay most of all and will grunt happily when eating it and stand up on her back legs unsupported like a little person for it. One thing with her though is she will nibble on everything. I do give her a half a carrot and constant hay and pellets. She has chewed on the cuddle cup beds and I've had to remove them since she has gotten to the stuffing, she has chewed and eaten the thick plastic lining of her C and C hutch. Today I saw her nibbling on her fleece blankets, But when I walked over I noticed she wasn't just nibbling it but happily eating it! She seems to have eaten maybe a 2" by 2 inch square. I have given her syringes full of water to help it pass through and a toilet paper roll she is now eating on my lap. What could be causing this strange behaviour? A guinea pig version of PICA? Her teeth are white and normal sized.

Sorry for strange title not sure what happen (she isn't a mum, meant to type 'my')

Re the title - blame predictive text or auto correct.
I do.

I’m no expert on the strange eating habits, others with much more knowledge will be along later. To me it sounds as if her poor start in life has left her with habit of eating anything at all to get the fibre she needs.
It could take time and patience for her to rebalance her diet and learn that she is no longer being starved but has plenty of good food.

Also (for future replies) she is given other food (just listed those as her sources to grinde teeth)
