Took tucker today for his teeth to be cut back again (he has to have them done every 3 weeks) and the lady I normal see wasn't there instead were these 2 useless ppl!
The lady looked simple and everyone in the waitin area wa moaning about her then a man came out and called Tucker, I usually go in with him but he snatched my carrier of me. I said oh I need to talk to you about what your doing as he has issue's and he said "Look dear it's a simple teeth trim not brain surgery" :tickedoff:
God I was cross I then said but he has no bottom teeth and they need to be........ when he walked off and shouted for me to stay there! :'(
Felt a right tit as i got upset but when he came back I said did you take them right back and he said as far as i can dear and again just walked off. I paid and left but wish I would of checked his teeth then as there not right back at all and poor Tucker was shaking after he was soooooooo scared bless him. So now I need to find another vet asap as not going back there again if that orginal lady has left!

Sorry for the long rant but was so cross! :tickedoff:

That's awful! I bet you were cross, I would have been too. If it's not a vet that has treated him before, although there will be notes on his records he should have let you have your say - as part of the consultation. Can you take this up with the vet that normally treats Tucker, or at least find out if she's still there?

Poor Tucker, hope he's ok

Thats an awful way to treat people and their pets - to some people (and thats me included) their animals are like their babies. I would be writing in a letter of complaint and writing to who ever regulates vets. There's no way I would be letting them take any of my babies without me with them. It stops them stressing if someone is there that they know. I've only ever had one bad experience with a vet (and it wasn't as bad as yours) and I now refuse to go to her - I always ask who's on duty first because all the other vets at the surgery are absolutely lovely. Hope you are both ok.

Poor you and poor Tucker....visiting the vets is bad enough without having to go through that kind of treatment.
**hugs** to you both S xx

I would've refused to pay! Seriously. They could've called the police on me if they liked :D

I absolutely HATE to discuss animals like this but in the eyes of the law mine are my property and its up to me who they see and what they see them for. I used to be really shy in saying anything to my vets but not now. If i feel my vet is wrong i would and have said. There is other vets out there but each individual pig of mine is irreplaceable. x

Definately always fight them on things.
My boar Charcoal had to be pts last month and the vet explained that she preferred to anaesthetise him and then put him to sleep and to say my goodbyes and then leave him with her.
I told her that there was no way that I was leaving him there alive - I wouldnt know when or how he died and I NEEDED to be there.
She reluctantly agreed and I got to see him leave this world.
It was hard but I HAD to be with him, no matter what she said.
I will never let another vet tell me that I cant be there, I dont care how angry I make them.
I would complain to the veterinary surgery manager about the way you were treated and spoken to and demand that the people are held accountable for their behaviour, because that was plain old disgusting!
I hope that you both feel better about it soon.
*hugs* for you both.
xx Steph xx

Sounds like an awful experience !

I have recently found a fantastic Vets, they have a rodentologist who trained at Cambridge Cavy Trust and they have alot to do with Vedra at CCT - they even have a Guinea Pig clinic !

My last vets was £28 just for a consultation, but the new one is only £10 to see a small animal, and they really do know what they are doing, they even gave me the Rodentologists mobile number in case i needed to speak to her out of hours.

They are in Herfordshire if anyone would like their details PM me :)

I have never had a bad experinece with my vet, but i can completely understand your wrry and frustration with the vets. I would have been furious. Where i go you get to stay with our pet at all times, which is great.

Complain and write a seriously strong letter, even write to your local paper about it and find another vet. even if the original woman is back i still wouldnt be given that vet practise my money. Poor little thing shouldn't have to go through that. xx

i used to have probs with a vet too, they would misdiagnose stuff and do treatments which were pointless which i would refuse, yet they would still charge me for them. i changed vets and am so happy with my vets now. there are 2 piggy specialists and they are great, but even the non piggy vets are very good with my boys :smitten:

I would complain about this rudeness, afrer all you pay for this service and they should be treating you with more respect and they should be listening to you, after all you know your pet far better than they do. They will lose a lot of customers treating people this way.

am so sorry you and tucker had to go through that. i would seriously complain especially as tucker was shaking and the job wasn't done properly :tickedoff: :tickedoff: i would find another vet as you love your piggies and it is important to find someone you can trust to be with and treat your furbabies. :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:
our last vet cost us 5 guinea pigs, 1 dog and 1 cat and frankly he has been a vet for 20 years and is very popular and even though i like him as a person i am NOT taking another fur baby to him. good luck, sending hugs and cuddles :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: girls send :-* :-* :-*
