I went to our local RSPCA centre today to look at the piggys they had...only unneutered boars so no good for me but thats not what I wanted to ask about.

The piggies were out in a run on wet grass in the rain on a day when the temp didnt get above 10 degrees....is that right? I wouldnt dream of putting a piggy out in those conditions but is that just me? I didnt seem right if you ask me so thought I'd guage an opinion from you guys.

No they shouldn't be out this time of year and especially not on wet grass, I think it's about may right through to september weather permitting :)

well ive once put my piggies out then it started spitting but they loved the rain a little but and started popcorning more :D
Not too good on temperatures though so dont know how cold that actually is ?

Mine would need wellies to go out in my garden...it's sodden,I won't put mine on the grass again till end of april or may ...unless we get some really good weather

I was going to stick mine out on the concrete today just for them to stretch there eyes, stimulate there senses you know, nice smells and all that,

but it was afternoon and i was on the phone to a friend and mullied over with her and decided tommorrow morning would be best, as it was getting a bit late.

Mine love going out as long as they have the bit tube lavenderjade gave to me to run through ;D, they are never out on the grass in the wet though

I was thinking from an indoor piggie point of view but if they're housed outside I suppose it's different :-\
Wet grass definite no no though!

yeah cause i think if they are outdoors they get used to the weather O0

Mine are in the shed..I don't have a patio :'( but they are freerange so lots of exercise O0

mine free-range around the shed.. but with the weather the way it is/has been there is no way id let any of mine play outside.. the wind has a high chill factor and i wouldnt want anybody getting a cold or worse.

So pretty much as I felt then....they shouldn't have been out. Poor little mites I really wanted to gather them up and bring them home with me but I really dont have the space :'(

No! They shouldn't be on wet grass. If its the one I'm thinking of they never did have many buns or pigs and they were outside in hutches last time I went too :( Ashley Heath get their boars castrated sometimes.

It was Ashley Heath I went to Karen.....She didnt say anything about being able to get the neuter done but then I didnt ask. I wasnt at all impressed with them. Looked at the ratties too while I was there and she grabbed one by the tail to pick it up and believed that if you tried to pair up males they', and I quote, "kill each other".

Only thing that impressed me was the ferret quarters

Haven't been for a long long time. No rats when I went. My niece works at the vets they get theirs done. Perhaps if you ask if they'll get one done for you? They can only say no and it'll give you a chance to show them your cages and set up.

I suppose they think boars will 'kill each other' too ::) If you want any info to drop off you can have it, just say its what you've been researching before you get your pet ?

Perhaps you should volunteer? Even a day a week cleaning out would get your foot in the door :)

they shouldn't be on wet grass or in the rain really, or at that temperature i wouldn't. :( I once didn't notice it was raining for a while and the piggies were out ::) , but they came in as soon as i did and had cuddles wrapped up in toels. :) :smitten: :smitten:

If this is an RSPCA shelter, shouldn't RSPCA HQ be notified? No way would I put guineas on wet grass, especially at this time of year. If they're rescue guineas how do they know exactly what their history is before coming into the home?
