I have 3 sows in a 7x2 cage & apart from a grump now & again, you would know that they were there.
My 2 boys are in the same size cage & they don't stop talking & little squeaks.
I would have thought it was the other way round, we all know us girls like a natter.

I have one pair of sows who talk far more than the other 3 do (although the "feed me" squeals are equally loud from both cages). But I have to say when I fostered boars they were far more chatty (once they had got used to their surrroundings) and much more engaging, I can see why people love keeping boars.

My two aren't particularly chatty but they'll frequently "whisper" between themselves, neither of them are particularly vocal, Comet's screaming at the vet last week not counting.

However, for dinner tonight I put down a bunch of mixed salad leaves, and Comet kept nicking them off Blitzen, so I put down some mint for Blitzen (Comet won't touch actual mint). I was quite clearly told off for giving one pig something that the other pig wasn't going to have. So they *can* get quite vocal, they just normally won't bother.

They're more vocal if they're on the sofa and I have visitors, for some reason. I wouldn't put it past a certain pig to be showing off.
