I was grocery shopping the other day and looking for some veg for the piggies and came across these kalettes, I've never seen them before so thought I would grab some for the piggies for a treat which they are loving. They are a cross between kale and a brussel sprout. So weird. Also I picked up a really cheap wombok/chinese cabbage and some mung beans/bean sprouts for a stir fry and was wondering if the piggies can eat them also. Just in case you are like me and never seen a kalette before I included a photo.

I hope they're okay because I've given a little bit of mini kale things that looked like that to my girls, they're fairly new aren't they? Saw them for the first time about a week or so ago, they were delicious! The ones I had may have been slightly different to yours though? I don't remember them being nutty!

never seen before!:D
Anyway, I have a vegetable chart downloaded from Guinea Lynx and it says that Chinese cabbage is high in calcium and quite low in phosphorus; this means that the important ratio of these two minerals is not adeguate. But of course what counts is the ratio of the whole daily meal...:)

Yeah I think they are fairly new. I think they must be ok because people feed their piggies kale and brussel sprouts. Anyway piggies are still alive lol.

My piggies have had kalettes - the humans in our household like them too !

How do you cook them? Just boil them like a brussel sprout? Do they taste like brussel sprout?
I either steam them - or cook in microwave - They only take a couple of minutes to cook in the microwave .

they're much nicer than sprouts ( in my opinion )

Maybe I will have to try them if The piggies will let me lol.
