Hi,

We are thinking about starting lawn time with the boys but we aren't sure about what is okay to eat!

I think we have different types of grass in the garden. Firstly the long strands (in the pic with the paving) - I have cut some of this to give to them which they absolutely love. But, we have a bunch of weeds on the side that it is most likely a run would comfortably fit. I've taken a picture as I don't want to inadvertently give them something dangerous.

Also, there is a Marigold tree in the garden. If some leaves fell into the run, could they eat them or is that dangerous? (will effect where we place the run in the garden!

Thanks so much!

NP

I can’t zoom in enough on the pictures but the yellow flowers look like celandine which is a member of the buttercup family and needs to be avoided.

Do you mean a magnolia tree rather than marigold tree (marigold is a small flower which can be eaten by piggies)? If so, then it’s best to keep any falling leaves and flower petals of a magnolia away from the piggies.

Yes sorry Magnolia - not Marigold!

I have zoomed in more on the flowers. So the yellow are on one side and the white ones (daises?) are on the other side with the (moss?) and (clover?)

omg I am awful at identifying plants!

Celandine, daisies and moss are all poisonous. My lawn has a lot of moss but the piggies never touch it so I don't worry about it too much (just rake out what I can). The celandine will die away after spring so shouldn't be a problem in summer. I would avoid the daisies tho. The clover is fine for them to eat and in one of the pics I can see some dandelion leaves nom nom nom

I wasn’t sure about moss so thank you for clarifying that it is indeed poisonous. We don’t have much in our grass but the piggies stay away from it anyway
