Little Pig

I was thinking about this earlier while I was cleaning Little Pig's wound, giving him his Septrin and syringe feeding him:

I actually quite enjoy cleaning their cages, love feeding them, cuddling them etc, have no issues giving medication or syringe feeding (although it upsets me if they need to have these things done as means they are not well) or any other part of looking after them.

The one thing I really hate doing and I have no idea why as it is actually one of the easiest things, is the daily water bottles.

I was just wondering what everyone else's least favourite part of taking care of their pigs is?

Its funny isnt it - I hate housework - dusting - cleaning the bath - the kids bedrooms - but I dont mind doing all the cages - must be cos I love them sooo much - but yes- I hate doing the water bottles.:)):))

I do not mind doing anything apart from cutting nails! I hate it so much as it makes them so unhappy. They squeal and wriggle and I panic thinking I have cut them.

I get really annoyed at their stupid water bottles. Standing outside in my PJ's at 7.30am in the morning looking like a wally and trying to get the stupid wire to fix back on without squeezing water back in the hutch :))

Mother nature is always against me too. When I clean them out it always blows a gale so the hay goes everywhere or I get a face full of poo/poo dust/wee soaked paper when I empty the muck bin into the compost grrrr

But I forget all about that when they wheek their little heads off because they know its breakfast time or their poke their noses out their bed and look at you as if to say, "oh its you" got anything nice for me"!

and I just adore their little piggy lips and faces xx>>>

They hate me cutting their hair and clipping their nails - even if they have been bribed with a tasty treat

Not sure there is anything I dislike about guinea pigs and caring for them....been thinking about it and no, there is nothing...... or should I say nothing so far!:))

When they outright refuse to eat something they usually love when you've just bought a bag of it, brocolli, apples, carrot, strawberries :)) i know there appetite varies but it does get on my wick lol. I get sick of beans, but i'll eat them!

I have boars, and the ONLY thing i hate, is cleaning boar glue from there man bits. The smell reminds me of the boys locker room. ewwy.

(i think the glue smell is worse than the smell of the calcuim deposit in the bottom! and that honks. :()

Only daily poo clean outs -_- wouldn't be too bad but it seems that as soon as I've finished they've already started decorating their cage with them again... who would have thought so much can come out of such tiny creatures :(|).

I know if we could bag it up and sell it we'd all be rich LOL

For me its cleaning the boys bits, my oh my does that smell!

OMG yes, how did i forget that :( Skittle's 'glue' was, well, rather decorative shall we say - he took mummy's role as an artist in his stride and would leave little hump hints in my room, his cage... ugh, i shouldn't miss that smell but it certainly is individual hahahaha

Walking up my long garden to reach the garage where I store my hay bales to fill up the piggies hay boxes with fresh every day, when its raining or cold (I hate the cold) I try running but end up tripping up over my old dog she follows me every where!

Hehehe dogs have a great knack of getting in the way! :))
I used to have a border collie and he was always trying to 'round us up' :))

The daily hay for me. I have asthma and hay fever so the hay dust always sets me off sneezing and coughing. Anything for my pigs though :))

I'm another water bottle hater, I can't even say why, I just find it really annoying! And the wire things are a pain!

Nothing :)

I find no matter how i'm feeling (tired, unwell or busy) it's one of the most relaxing and enjoyable cleaning jobs -c i'd call it therapeutic :)

I'm not a great fan of the water bottles either, I don't know if it's because my hands are a bit stiff or if it's the daily " Will it? Won't it leak?" :(|) :(|)

Nemo suffers from impaction, cleaning his bits down there isn't the most pleasant of jobs!

I love cleaning out the hutches and the feeding. I hate the bathing and the hair cutting cause the pigs hate it too!

I agree! Mine seem to really love pooing in the exact same spot I've just cleaned! It's like painting the Forth Bridge....

I think picking up wet, wee-soaked newspaper is my worst 'piggie' job.....oh, and brushing off the vetbed before it goes into the wash, cos the wind always seems to blow just as I'm brushing, so the hay/hair goes everywhere except the recycling bin...:{

Cleaning manly bits and old pig imapction is definately the worst. I seem to spend my entire life at the moment brushing strange sticky 'hairstyles' out of Merry & Suilven's fur or washing them as they stink.

If it's not that then it's cleaning Merry's bum as he's an old lad and struggling with that.

Thanks goodness Hamish & Angus are too little to be humping much yet or there would be all out chaos! It won't be long though!
