Hi
My boyfriend and I booked a holiday before we knew we were getting the pigs! They are currently 7 weeks and will have been with us for around 2 months when we go away for a week at the end of August

I’d have preferred someone to come in daily to check in o them, feed water etc but my mum would rather have them at hers rather than popping in daily. They are experienced with animals and have the space for them to be kept in a room away from their dogs and cat- but I am just really stressing that it will be a stressful experience for them moving it another unfamiliar place and cage for a week! Also, will they remember their home and us when we get back?
Can’t bear the thought of it at the moment!

As long as your cage is secure and can be kept away from any cats and dogs then they will be absolutely fine. Your Mum is happy to have them so off you go and enjoy your holiday. They will still remember you I am sure of that 😊

Yes it will be secure and upstairs / separate room :) she absolutely doesn’t mind and I know she’ll take care of them, but just don’t want to cause my fur babies loads of stress moving them around again! They love their c&c (won’t fit at mums so will be getting a 120 for the week) and are settled well here!

:agr:

I would also advise that you take soiled bedding to your mums cage. That will the transfer scent and It will help them settle in at your mums if their cage smells like them
Great tip Thankyou! I’m going to miss them so much:(

We had our first holiday in 25 years last year (we have a business so can’t get away).
Don’t get me wrong, I love my animals to bits but we had such a good holiday I didn’t give them much of a thought …. Ooops! But to be honest they didn’t miss me either, they were still fed and that’s all they cared about!
They stayed home and were checked in on twice a day (as I have too many animals and too big enclosures to move)

I'm thinking of taking a vacation when I graduate with my master's in December.

I'm going to hire a house sitter because I have the piggies and a cat. The cat has separation anxiety, so he can't be alone for more than 12 hours.

Not sure where I want to go yet, but maybe Montreal?

Our boys have been on holiday with us, or stayed with us at relatives. We just make sure we take old bedding, and cover the cage with a blanket. They settle in quickly. All the pigs settle happily back at home after too, they just like to take a really long nap to recover from the holiday as soon as they get home!
Your pigs will settle in& even remember for next time.
Hope you have a super holiday.

Going next week but I can’t stop worrying about leaving them! I know it sounds silly-
Mum and dad have always had animals so know how to look after them
They’ll be kept in their room/en-suite upstairs with the door closed so the other animals can’t get to them
I’ll leave instructions with the food etc when. I take them and I’ll check in hopefully daily
But they are my babies and I hate the thought of leaving them for a full week and them thinking I’ve abandoned them! I know it probably sounds silly

Any tips to switch off the worries when I’m away? Hoping once I’m in Spain this happens naturally but I will miss my babies

My piggies are so used to going to the Boarders now they settle in straight away. Your piggies will remember you and will be well looked after by your Mum. Enjoy your time in Spain and try not to worry.

It's not silly to be worrying - I went on my first holiday in 11 years in May and was very worried that my piggies would think I had abandoned them even though I knew they would be very well looked after. They were fine. Enjoy your holiday and I am sure your piggies will too
