I dont want to sound accusing or disapproving but is that puppy pads they are bedded on? Thought you might like to know I was warned by a vet that as these are made of special absorbant material that the material swells with moisture and that I must be extra specially sure not to let my (at the time) young puppy not chew them as it can cause internal blockages. The pads can be very dangerous if little piggies be naughty piggies and chew them, could you try putting a layer of fleece or other bedding on top?

I agree it may be easier to clean but the vet bills if left in there without other bedding allowing pigs to chew and cause harm will not be worth it
