Are all of these lettuces OK to feed to guinea pigs. I went to Costco and they didn't have red or green leaf so I bought this. Just want to make sure everything in here is good to feed to them. Thanks ahead of time20191129_190617.webp

Don't know about most of them, but limit baby spinach to once per week, it ehigh in calcium and can be a cause of bladders stones

I don't know all of them, but romaine, chard, mizuna, red leaf and green leaf, arugula and spinach are all fine. I'm 99% sure radicchio, oakleaf and butterleaf are all fine too, Google backs me up on that, but I've no personal experience with them.

(edit for anyone unfamiliar with the name, arugula and rocket are the same thing)

I think they all sound fine but small amounts and not too often. Spinach shouldn't be fed more than once a week. Mine get it less frequently than that. They love spinach but it's not good for them due to the high calcium content

Sounds fine to me, I hadnt heard of Mizuna but the others are all things I've to my piggies in a salad bag mix. The amount of spinach in these bags is usually quite small, just 7 or 8 leaves in the whole bag, but avoid feeding any other high calcium veg for a few days if they are eating spinach. My piggies love a mixed salad bag once a week!

Which mixed bag is this? My rats love spinach, so they will clear most of that up. They need the calcium

We usually buy whatever Asda is selling as "babyleaf salad mix", it varies a bit seasonally but usually has red and green babyleaf, red chard, and baby spinach- sometimes butterhead lettuce too. Or we go for the bistro salad mix that has bits of grated beetroot in that the piggies fight over!

Also a word of caution though on mixed lettuce bags, my colleague bought a bag from Aldi which contained amaranth even though it wasnt listed on the ingredients, amaranth is high in oxalate apparently and should always be listed- she is a plant geneticist and DNA tested her salad and there it was, amaranth but not on the ingredients list!

I must agree with @Lady Kelly and say this is good, because I go to Costco for most of my piggies' veggies. I know which ones you are talking about because I picked them up before as well. Both my piggies have been doing fine with those Costco veggies.

I have to go to fruit markets to pick up cilantro, parsley and other herbs because Costco doesn't carry fresh herbs.

Spinach is actually higher in oxilates than calcium, kale has more calcium.
Oxilates are the baddies here,if you feed lots of veg high in oxilates you need to balance it with veg that has a lot of calcium.
The oxilates make stones, the calcium binds to the oxilates and helps get rid of it.
So really we should feed these in moderation, but I have never had any problems with my piggies and they have spinach AND kale often.its their favourite veg🙄
The only leaf mine don't like is rocket or cabbage.
