Hiya

I have finally held the 2 guinea foster girlies today and had a good look through their coats. One of them I saw has lice. Also her skin looks a little bit scaly in places, not much just a little.

I have used a spot on treatment on them both. I have also ordered Lice and Easy for them and super souffle from gorgeous guineas and wondered if it's fine to use the lice and easy in a few days even though I have used a spot on treatment.

Also - does anyone know how effective the spot on is? I have used it on every one of my other guineas and no adverse effects but i don't expect them to have lice - it was a preventative. Will it clear up lice on these two on it's own?

Thanks!

You have to wait at least 48 before giving them a bath with Lice and Easy, which should clear up things. A bath (for lice) or oral/injection treatment (for mites) is usually better than spot on.

I don't expect to get it for 48 hours or so having ordered on a Sunday so that's just great.

I happened to have some here as I use it as a preventative for my others and once I discovered the lice didn't want to do nothing. Can't wait to get them clear and not itchy any more.

Thanks you! (can't remember how to spell your real name) :red

As Weibke said, leave 48 hours. I use spot on treatment, in conjunction with GG Lice and Easy, and it always seems to clear up after 1 treatment and 2 baths. I usually apply a 2nd treatment though just to clear up any niddy eggs. xx

Thanks! I was hoping I would get away without having to bath them as they are feisty. I was hoping to have them a few weeks and handle them quite a lot before attempting the bath but hey ho - some rubber gloves and i'll give it a go. I will do it tuesday if my shampoo is here by then.

A nit comb is brilliant for combing out lice. I found a vigorous wash in GG did good, but a light conditioner (also GG) and a thorough combing through with a nit comb was very useful.

Good Evening:
I raise and show long haired cavies and it seems this time of year is especially bad for the little critters bothering my crew...Its a huge job to bathe everyone for same so I usually give them all a dose of ivomectin followed up by a second dose 10 days later and that usually clears them all up. Dosage is based on weight of the cavy.
I do use and support the Gorgeous Guinea products, have used them on my cavies for a long time and they are of great quality and they do work; especially the shampoos and such. I use them on my show animals, its makes their coats ever so soft and improves the density of their coats.
Hope this helps
