Wet hay?
hay got rained on during delivery? Pop the screens off your windows and lay them down on top of something in the corners to space them off the ground. spread hay evenly on the screens and have a fan blow through it. Feel free to layer them on top of each other with spacers between them to save space. stir up the hay daily. change the order of the shelves daily if some of them aren't getting enough wind and aren't drying as fast as the others. that will leave you hay bone dry in no time. no need to worry about moldy hay.
Poop hole
Is your piggy cage off the ground (i find wooden pallets great for this)? well as we all know no matter how much felt padding and paper or w/e we put down. theirs always at least one or two poops that make it onto the correx base (lets be honest those little nuggets find their way in places that will have you scratching your head being more impressed then mad). install a small hole that you can cover with either a screw cover (like you get in an ikea set) or if you cut out the hole instead of drilling it. glue the piece you cut out to another square piece of correx (it will be under the felt anyways). put some kind of disposable pan under the cage below the hole and now you just sweep everything left over into the little hole and dump the tray into the garbage. this hole also makes it handy to wash the base after as it acts as a drain. (put a piece of paper towel down the hole to stop water from wanting to cling to the base and flow down into the pan instead. wipe under the hole quickly once finished)
