Niki
Senior Guinea Pig
On 20th May 2011 i first noticed what looked like a small black scab on Linnet's face & my first thoughts were boar glue as Haggis had been "performing."
I knocked the scab off & exposed a small "jellied" lump approx 2mm diameter. It never changed shape nor grew any bigger & i forgot about it.
On 3rd November i took her to the vets after discovering she had a urethral stone & at this appointment i also asked about the strange lump, it was thought it was either a hair follicle infection or tumour & i should monitor it; the lump was still the same size at this point but in the space of approx 10 days it'd grown ten-fold & resembled a bright pink jelly tot, the colour darkened the next day which is when i took this pic.
Over the next couple of days it dried up but on 23rd November (the day she was going to Northampton) the top was back off it & it was bleeding quite badly.
Earlier tonight my lovely friend Debbie (founder of the Excellent Adventure Sanctuary), sends me a photo of Linnet post-op.
I am so so happy that she's so well post-op & at how fantastic she looks. Where is the wound?
I am so very thankful to Debbie for offering to care for Linnet & her cage-mates (who went along to keep Linnet company), to Simon for his fantastic skill & care, to Nicky who looked after Linnet throughout her op, to Paula for her very kind offer of transport & of course to Hannah (Debbie's daughter) for taking Linnet to Debbie.
