Her abscess removal (located on her back above the grease gland) apparently went very well. The vet removed the entire abscess within it's pocket of skin- hopefully that will work while draining didn't. She looks like 'Frankenpiggie'- she has an incision about half an inch long in the middle of a large patch of shaved fur- very noticeable because she is part sheltie and has a lot of fur, especially on her back! She is up and active and eating normally, and her cagemate Sundae is happy to have her back and has not shown any interest in her incision site after a couple of brief licks and sniffs. We are to keep her on antibiotics for the next seven days and keep an eye on the incision for any swelling, discharge, or separation. So far I have seen one tiny drop of blood well out, but the vet said that was normal. Now we will just have to pamper our little patient- tomorrow we are off to the cottage, where she can graze on clover to her heart's content!

Glad to hear that she's back at home and up and about as normal. It must be a big relief for you :)

Bless her, I am so pleased she is home and eating. Hopefully the wound heals up as it should and there's no more abscess trouble for Linney!

Glad she's ok, best wishes for a speedy recovery.
