Our very own @furryfriends (TEAS) and @MintyAndGarry (TEAS) were interviewed by BBC Radio Northampton and the interview is available to listen to on iplayer here BBC Radio Northampton - Helen Blaby, 16/02/2017 It starts at 1:07:49 and runs till 1:23:00

For those of you that may not be aware Debbie runs a Sanctuary along with Emma for guinea pigs with severe dental issues. She works in conjunction with an amazing vet Simon and Cat and Rabbit vets in Northampton and provide life saving treatment for piggies with dental issues.

Following treatment with Simon Debbie and Emma often syringe feed piggies around the clock until they have recovered enough to start eating again. They have saved countless lives and work so hard to provide this service to all those that may need it

It is well worth a listen.

Just to add the Sanctuary is facing a very real crisis of funds at the moment, so I am asking on Debbie's behalf if anyone could make a one off donation or make a monthly donation to TEAS - you would be keeping a very much needed Sanctuary open for piggies in need. She is an amazing lady who cares so deeply about piggies in her care and never turns a Piggy down for treatment.

I hope I never need to ask Debbie for help with any of our piggies but know if I did she would be there for anyone of us in a flash.

Any donations can be made by paypal to [email protected]

The forum also sponsors a Piggy on behalf of our lovely members..
Benji - Forum Sponsor Piggy - Teas.

Follow his progress and get a small insight into the wonderful work TEAS do to ensure Benji gets a great quality of life..

Any donation that can be spared will help Benji and many other piggies continue to enjoy a great quality of life.. x

My Tim would not be here without Debbie, her and Emma do such an amazing job.

Well done Debbie and Emma. Really informative. And Simon the vet was amazing. I wish he had a twin who runs a vets near me. I loved the gunea pigs providing loud vocal support in the background.
Sometimes our local radio station has my vet doing an hours talk about once a month. He answers questions about all animals though not just guinea pigs. It sounds as though Helen Blaby is keen to get the TEAS team back on air in the future.

Absolutely fascinating to hear the story behind TEAS. What amazing ladies to devote their lives to these needy piggies, and Simon sounds lovely. Does he train other vets in the dental work do we know? We need to spread his expertise far and wide!

Sadly other vets just don't seem interested and criticise what he does. The sad fact is though, it isn't just about conscious dental versus GA dental. Even under GA most of the vets seem totally incapable of doing a good job.

That's unfortunate as we will lose his expertise and experience if he is unable to train other vets.

I must add that my vet has heard of his work. Is impressed and highly commends him, she said she would struggle to even contemplate doing the dental work he does

That's great to hear. If ever she wanted to go and spend some time with Simon, to watch how he does the dentals, he would be more than happy for her to do so xx

I popped a note in your jar when I was there 2 weeks ago Debbie & will drop some more off on Monday when I go next. Hope you collect it regularly :) xx

Fortunately, he's got a good few years in him yet! It is sad that there isn't more interest and commendation for what Simon does. Other vets have shown a passing interest, but despite being invited to come and see what happens, no one has ever taken up the offer. Other vets dismiss Simon and his work. Jealousy, I guess. He really is a life saver and treats so many piggies who have been let down by so called experts. Simon has never claimed to be a specialist or expert, as he is 'only' a general vet. However, he has developed his knowledge and skills of dental issues via more than a decade of hard work and absolute dedication. The animals are always the absolute focus and the lack of any ego means that we can work very closely with him, sharing ideas and learning all the time.
