Loki was just having floor time and I left the room for one minute, and when I came back he had started to eat the leaf of a snake plant. The leaf must have just broken off, because I check very well to make sure that there are no houseplants in reach of the guinea pigs. I've looked online at different plant lists that are poisonous to guinea pigs, but I can't find anything. It's called a Snake Plant, but its's also called Viper's Bowstring Hemp or Sanseveria. He's acting normal, but I'll be watching him closely. I don't know when I can get him to the vet, being so close to the holidays. Is there anything that I should do for him besides that?

If in doubt call the vet, put yes you should put all plants out of reach, but it is hard same with kids, trying to see things through there eyes

I looked it up, also known as a “mother-in-laws tongue” which is hilarious in reference to all the snake names. But yes it’s poisonous but usually in larger quantities than just a few nibbles.

Just keep an eye on him and head to the vets if you notice anything out of the ordinary for him.

I hope he is well.

Thank you all, he is doing fine. He didn’t eat much of it, and I've since moved the plant out of that room.

My rabbit was caught trying to reach the African Violet on her first day here!
Plants are now on the highest window ledge and Ive 27194612-E8A3-4624-9DA9-95B57DE6E08D.webp got to remember to water them now!

Oh no, just keep a very close eye on them and if anything seems out of the ordinary then pop them along to the vet. My original three managed to reach and nibble on my peace lily when it was just in reach from their run. Luckily there were no ill effects
