I got 2 pigs 3 years ago & they lived happily together. Recently trixie passed away :( now treacle is on her own & seems very bored. Most of day she just lies around thr cage or sleeps.I've tried putting new toys/chew things into cage. Putting her food into places she has to chew or roll ball around to get but she's not that interested.

I get her out for cuddles as much as possible & have a large c&c cage for her to run around in.

I really don't want to get another pig as then when anything happens to treacle I'll be in same situation again.

I really dont want to give her up either but sometimes wounder if re-homing would be kinder.

Any help/advice appreciated :)

Hey. I am pretty much in the same position as you after I had to have one of my girls put to sleep last week leaving 1 alone. They are the same age as your piggies.
At first I didn't want another piggy for the same reasons as you. I didn't want it to keep happening over and over. I think my other girl has gotten a bit lazy just due to the fact she has no-one to talk/play with :(

As she is only 3 and a half I have made the decision to look for a rescue piggy around the same age as I do not want her to live out her days alone and bored :(

Have you thought about getting another one the same age? so they can hopefully grow up together?

Hope you're ok x

Wow your pic looks similar to mine. I had one white with sand markings & treacle is a dark brown. Horrible experience when trixie died. She had phenomena & I nursed her for a week trying to make her better. In the end she gave up the fight.

Treacle has always been a bit dominant & I'd worry if I got another she would not like it. Also she has a few lumps so I'm not sure if she will get Ill soon :( I could be in a similar situation with a rescue piggy.

Some reputable rescues can lone you a piggie as a companion for your current piggie which means that if or when anything happens to your piggie your companion piggie goes back to rescue :)

Isn't that bad for the loan piggy? Being passed around pillar to post? Plus I'm soft I'd end up loving it & couldn't give it back! Would end up in similar situation.Love my animals. Might look into getting an older piggy but the thought of having to loose another 2 makes me sad just thinking about it

You are always going to have the same problem with 2 piggies, I had a herd of up to 10 girls, I used to get twitchy when I got down to 5. In the end, I did get down to 1, but she was 6 years old, and spent a couple of months alone, before she passed on. I hate to put it like this, but you will have a 'turn over' of piggies if you choose to keep them, some live 3 years, some can live 7 years. I am back to 2 now, but it was 3 and I lost 1 after just 2 weeks to pneumonia. You just never know with piggies, no matter what you lavish on them, they, some live just short lives, others make it to a ripe old age.

I would get those lumps checked out. I took my other pig to the vet a few days after Honey died to get a check up just to put my mind at rest.

Another option is to adopt 2 girlies. Then when your current sadly passes the two remaining ones have each other. =)

Lumps always need checking by a vet. Hopefully they are harmless fatty lumps but it is best to be sure.

We can all see your obviously trying your best which I absolutely idol. But too be honest, you really should get her some company. As been said, you could get her a rescue too grow up with, but I would be a bit weary with that situation as most rescues prefer too be alone. Personally, I think you should get a young newborn. It might cheer her up and she could mother it the only problem is: she might not be up for some boisterous little baby. I really am wishing the best for you and baby think of it like this, if your soulmate where too pass away, you wouldn't exactly be all chirpy? She's probabaly pretty low, but can you blame her? I'm not quite sure what too suggest, but I think that you should defenietly get her another companion
