i need to name two boys - they're four months old and very pretty. one is sandy colour with an orange stripe down his side & has red eyes and the other is ginger.

sandy one is quite friendly and doesn't mind being handled, the ginger boy is a bit more skittish. only had them for a day so haven't really observed many character traits.

here's a picture - the black piggy is called reece.

i do too! and reece has a boy name (although not old fashioned i guess)... i'm thinking maybe...

rhett buttler for the ginger one because he's a little boisterous and
mr rochester for the sandy one as he's quite subdued?

well you have convinced me! :D

i presented the names to my husband who said 'they're a bit long, aren't they?'

so i said, well, you don't have to call them their full name! and he asked me to shorten them, which, with rhett buttler is reasonably easy... but apparently 'how are you going to shorten mr rochester? mister?'

and i said, 'well no, it's edward, clearly.'

so mr rochester will probably be mostly called by his first name. still good though, right?

Fabulous choice of names!

:) thank you. someone i know suggested i call them 'rat and ted' for short (ha!) but thankfully you're not allowed to say rat on the isle of man, just in case it gave my husband any ideas!

Lovely names, I think they are great. Also, sorry to change the topic but I wondered whether your piggies can reach that hammock and whether they use it much? I think it looks great but I'm not sure that my boys would be able to climb up.

they don't usually get into it off the floor. they have a wooden house - you can see a bit of it on the right side of the picture - and they get on top of the house and onto the hammock. they quite often jump down from it though rather than going back on top of the house and then down.

the new piggies - do seem to like it quite a lot. reece doesn't use it very often, he (and robin when he was still with us) had a smaller cage before this one and the top metal bit was a lot lower so you could just hang a hammock down straight from the metal bars and they used it a lot (i'll post pictures, just need to go on the other computer). then we bought the big cage and couldn't hang the hammock in, then later had the genius idea to stick some metal rings on the hooks and do it that way.
i think by that point they got used to not having a hammock. they still used it, but only occasionally.

rhett and mr rochester do love it, they're on there all the time though i've not actually seen them lying down yet!

i'll go grab the other computer and post pictures of piggies in a hammock!

here they in their old cage and hammock. the hammock was hung a lot lower than the one they've got in now, maybe that's why reece is not so keen.

i miss robin...
