Following losing Isobel last night I need to start the search for new piggies. Daisy is now on her own though she is tucking into her food without a care. I don't have any concerns around depression for Daisy but I am aware that working full time while she is on her own is far from ideal.

At present I have a 100cm indoor cage which she is in but the usual home is a 6ft x 2ft 2 storey hutch. It is well sheltered/insulated and for the sake of trying to rescue from a reputable source I will be moving this into the garage until late spring. If this causes a major issue I will purchase a larger indoor cage until the summer and they will move into the dining room.

I'm looking for either one or two friends for Daisy. If it's a pair I would prefer a neutered male and female but for solos either a female or neutered male would be suitable.

About Daisy, she's confident and curious. Likes to come over and have a nosey at everything and is always on the go. She's friendly and not specifically bossy, more uppity if things aren't to her liking. I feel she would battle for dominance which is why I had to separate her from Jemima as she was stressing Jemima out too much. I think an overly bossy pig might be a bit if a tense bond but willing to try anything :)

If any rescues would consider rehoming to me then let me know.

Awwww I hope you're able to find her a piggy friend very soon- have you looked in your nearest shelters?

I've messaged my local rspca today but they don't often have pigs. My nearest reputable rescue won't rehome to me as I have the pigs outdoors which I respect their decision over. I queried after a neutered male not too long ago but was turned down as he was going to live indoors on his own until it was warmer but then I didn't know at that point that I would be in this position. I just thought I would put this out there and if rescues are happy with the homing situation they could let me know and I will see what they have as I don't mind travelling a little way

Have you tried Honeybunnies? I know they don't rehome to outdoors but if you are moving your hutch into the garage maybe they would consider you?

I adopted my Enoch (RIP) from Honeybunnies.

My piggies are now all indoors but when I first adopted Enoch in 2013, they were living free range in a shed with two hutches inside which Jill was happy with.

I think the issue for me before was that I intended to keep them outdoors all year round though it won't hurt to send through a query and double check their stance as it has been a few years before I was told that

I don't know of any nearby other than Honeybunnies but from doing a few piggy trains I found out about Hunsbury Guinea pig rescue in Northampton. I went there a few times a couple of years ago and it was good. I have no idea if it's still around now though and I don't have Facebook so it won't let me look for them.

I don't know of any reputable ones in Nottingham either, but I'm sure someone on the forum has posted on behalf of a Nottingham rescue before.

As far as l am aware, all piggy bank rescues insist on the piggies being indoors or in a shed during the colder months. Some rescues insist on them being indoors all year round. The problem at this time of year is most rescue piggies are indoors and would need to be acclimatized to a shed environment.

There's a rescue in Nottingham called Notts nibblers, they have a profile on here but haven't been on for a while @Nottsnibblers but you could always contact them and enquire. I would have thought if your willing to move them into the garage or dining room until the summer they should be okay with that as I've heard of lots of people putting them outside in the summer. If your willing to compromise with them they will probably be more willing to help. I'm not sure if they are on the recommended rescue list on here though.

Yes I wouldn't want to force that on a piggy either. I pretty much have agreement to have max 2 indoors until summer so worst case just a bigger cage to buy. If it's going to take me up to 3 then I would need them already kept in similar conditions to the garage which would be more unlikely
