So my girl guinea pig has loose stool off and on. Not diarrhea but squishy clumps of stool followed by formed soft ones the same day and then back to smoosh. I do have a vet appointment coming this week but am trying probiotics but it is powder so I mix with water and syringe her it. She isn’t very cooperative so I’m not sure how else to do it. Any of you have pigs that have had stool like that? Or familiar with Bene bac probiotic?

@Has22 If you're in the UK try Pro-C from Pets at Home. My pigs love it.

It could be a type of veg that's causing it. I usually stop veg until it's better and then introduce one at a time until I find the culprit.

This actually happened to my boar Pablo about a month ago. I kept feeding him veggies and not enough vitamin C, eventually his stool went mushy that I couldn't sweep it out of his cage. I stopped giving him veggies for a while and mainly gave him Timothy hay and bought him some vitamin C drops to add to his water. He's been doing a lot better and his stool is back to normal.

I found that too much lettuce or kale gave my one if my pigs the runs. Do whats been said above. Sounds like spot on advice. The vet will basicly start this advice and if it doesnt work they will take a poo sample

She had this happen before right after I got her. Vet took sample then and no issues. Told me to feed her my other pigs poop but she is not so good at syringe things. She has been eating only hay, her pellets, and supplements for like 2 weeks now no veggies or fruit that could make it loose. I’m definitely gonna try sprinkling it on her food a little just so see if she will still eat her food with some on it. Then maybe I’d be able to syringe her less if she eats it off food at least!

Mine love Pro-C too! @Has22 have you tried sprinking some on your piggies food if she's not keen on you syringing it?

I haven’t! I’m definitely gonna try it! I never though if that just because it’s pellets not like canned food like cats and dogs eat but I’m gonna give it a try!

Interesting. My girl hasn’t had veggies in 2 weeks and tons of hay and pellets hoping that would help and it looked better some days but not so much others. And she is still eating her supplements okay so I’m hoping the no veggies (even though she squeaks for them) and the probiotics will help!

I’m in the US :/ But maybe I can see if I can find some here. And yeah she hasn’t had any veggies in like 2 weeks now and she still had those gross poops. It’s so weird!

I had an old pig with soft stools. Never did find out what it was causing it even after a lab test done. He lived til 7 like it from about 6 years old it started. And this wasnt what caused his death either

Interesting! Because my girl is supposedly around 5. I got her almost a years ago from a family that was giving her away for free on Craigslist because they got a kitten. They said she was 5 but who knows! So she isn’t a youngin either.
