Totally gutted lost my 2.5 year old male guini tonight, i took him to the vets yesterday and was told he was fine, he had got what seemed like fluid or fat underneath him, i just thought with the spring grass he had maybe put on weight, just wondered if any one has any ideas what it could have been, the only thing 2 weeks ago i bought 2 male guinis 10 week olds and they both appeared to have eye infections, didnt the day i bought them obviously, i took them back to the store who have paid for anti biotics etc one sadly died the other is just ok , they are waiting for post mortem results, but looked like eye infections that went to the lungs, very sad, now my older guinea was never in contact with the new baby ones but i may have handled both and am really wondering if this could have whats caused my older guinea to die ? any help would be nice, devasted at my poor piggies passing.

Hello and welcome to the forum, I'm sorry you've joined us at such a sad time and that you've just lost your piggy. We would only be guessing at what was wrong with your piggies but it could be bloat if his tummy was rounded. Put bloat in to the search box there will be some threads come up. Is your vet experienced with guinea pigs? Where are you based, perhaps a member can recommend a cavy savvy vet for you.

Hi and welcome to the forum :)
So very sorry to hear about both your piggies going to the bridge 8...8...8...
RIP little ones xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Am hoping the post mortem will help them figure out what's wrong, as Katie said it would only be a guess :...
Have you thoroughly cleaned and steralised all bedding and the cage? I would do so and throw out anything that could harbour germs.
Best of luck, let us know how it goes
