Lost our adorable Ruben 💔

My son bought our first pet , out of his commuion money as he wanted a guinea pig we called him Ruben, he passed away yesterday we only had him over 2 and a half years, gave him plenty of attention slept in my sons room fresh food hay water every day and played with him, we only realised this morning that he hadn't ate his spinach and cucumber, from the night before..so my older boy when in and saw that he couldn't move and was limped, so picked him up and stroke him. He's was very weak couldn't move his body but turned his head and look up at him then laid on his lap until he passed, we are all upset cause there wasn't any signs, we cared for him so much its heartbreaking

That is so sad. RIP little Ruben. It is good that your older son was able to comfort him in his last moments. Guinea pigs do sometimes pass with very little warning unfortunately. They are good at hiding illness as they are prey animals. Their fast metabolic rate means illness can progress quickly. However some pigs live for quite a long time. It is often just luck how long they live.

I’m so sorry Ruben has had his call to the rainbow bridge. As said above they hide any illnesses so well. It’s such a shock for us but it seems it was a quick and peaceful passing for Ruben. Sending you and your family hugs.
