Hi I have the dishwasher going and I heard one of my guinea pigs wheeking quite loudly . She has never done this before

I gave the two of them a food bowl of veggies first thing this morning lol 😂. I was worried that she was in pain or hurt herself

How would I know lol . It was pretty loud

I've had loud wheeking before, it always seems to translate to "feed me"

In my limited experience the sounds of annoyance or fear (like during nail cuts) are very different in tone compared to wheeking.

Before I'd had guinea pigs I'd never have said I could tell the difference between an excited wheek, an annoyed wheek, or an afraid wheek. And it's really hard to explain the difference but at the same time once you've heard them, you know them. There's a lot of conversational tone conveyed via that one little sound. Kinda like dogs and excited barking, angry barking, afraid barking. Once you've heard your dog do all three you'll automatically know when to facepalm from the other room or to rush outside to rescue your pet.

My Jemimah had a wheek that could be heard across the street when she wanted her veggies.
When he started working from home my husband came shooting out of his study upstairs thinking one of them was hurt the first time he heard her!

Hiya is it normal for piggies to sometimes lie down in a corner of the cage

When Shy Little Meg was much younger (she's nearly 6 now) her excited wheek was so loud you think she was being murdered. That all stopped just over 2 years ago when she lost her Mum and Mentor :yikes: :yikes: DA BOSS :yikes: :yikes: Velvet.
