Heya

I took Gilbert to the vets yesterday as he was peeing blood. As soon as I saw it I took him to the nearest vet I could find and apparently good for guinea pigs.

Well they gave me Loxicom to try on him for ten days to see if it helps. I just wanted to know if this is good stuff for him? He's already had one bit at the vets and she said to continue the treatment for ten days. I'd just like to double check on here. =)

So is Loxicom good for guinea pigs?

Oh fantastic. :)
I'd never heard of it before so I am glad to hear its metacam.

I was told if it doesn't work he will need an xray. So lets hope it does. :)

Fingers crossed for you. He shouldnt need any drugs for an xray, its just as simple as him sitting still on an xray plate. I guess they would be checking for stones. If hes no better it may be a simple UTI so he'd need a quick course of antibiotics (preferably septrin as this is much better than bayril for UTI's)

Good luck with him.

x.

Yeah they are testing to see if it helps and if not they are going to xray him for stones.

Um, apparently I got baytril as well but they didn't guide me on how much.

Should I give him both and one says twice a day.

I'm giving him the medication and today he had a bit of a runny poop when I picked him out to feed him his second feeding of the twice daily medication.

Is this a good sign that the medication is working or does it mean he might be getting worse? I wiped it from his bum and he seems okay but... I'm still very worried.
