I have just discovered a lump under my 4 and a half year old boy Guinea pigs chin throat area. And also a very much smaller one near it. They are hard and have come on within 3-4 days. So worried does any one have any idea what they could be. I will be making a vet appointment! Just so concerned at the moment. And I recently just lost my 5 year old boy to a bladder stone. :(
Any answers will help

Only a vet can properly diagnose what the problem is with a hands-on examination. It could be anything from fatty lumps to an abscess to something more sinister. Hope it's nothing too bad and let us know what the outcome is. It's a very stressful time the not knowing bit.

Sorry for the loss of your other piggy.

Dont mean to panic you but my old male pig had this and it was lymphona cancer of the lymph nodes in neck .2 hard lumps also.he lived 7 weeks like it. Get a test sent from the vets to find out what it is. It could not be cancer

Make sure you go to a vet who knows about guinea pigs. My boy had a needle in his lump to draw out a sample to go to the labs. Then put on zythromax antibiotic to stop any infection after it was pierced. And he was on a painkiller called loxicom for the rest of his days

I agree with @Betsy, he needs to go to the vet for a diagnosis and treatment. It could be anything, from an abscess to a fatty lump or something else. Don't panic for now, just have him seen by the vet.

My Rosie developed a lump too but hers was overnight. There for a day, then developed a little scab on it, then shrunk to nothing. She went to the vet anyway and they believe it was just a cyst that popped and slowly drained. I hope yours is as simple as this.

went to the vet today, they think it may be an abscess. They took a sample of what was inside it. He is having surgery to remove it in two days time. I think he will be fine :)

Fingers crossed for him. Donald had surgery to remove an abscess under his chin last November and it was no problem
