Yes, that is a very good sign; it means that they are very comfortable with their new surroundings and feel totally safe. As prey animals guinea pigs instinctively avoid open areas where they are exposed to predators from both the ground as well as the air.

My Guinea Pig does the same she never goes in her hidey until we turn off the lights for the night. Most of the day she is either lounging at the food area or staring into her fleece tunnel!
