Today when cleaning one of my cages out i found a maggot under one of the food bowls. The weather has been so hot so I'm putting it down to that, i didnt see any more. I clean there litter tray out every day and it had only been 6 days since their cage was last cleaned out. Ive checked there bums etc and no sign of any more. Is there anything else i should do? I'm mortified about this, i could understand if they weren't looked after properly but they are 8...8...8...

Get some insecticide spray that is compatible with small animals (if necessary from vet) and give your hutch a good scrape and spray.

Clean your hutch twice a week for the time being, if you are worried, or use just newspapaer and hay and change daily.

Thanks guys - I never knew! thats why i love this forum. I keep them clean and disinfect the cages regular. Will check the links.
Thanks again.
