Hi, so I have 2 male guinea pigs gizmo and Bruce. Gizmo is 10 months old and Bruce is 2. They have never had a fight or mounted eachother or anything they get on amazing until last weekend. Bruce came out of his shell and mounted gizmo repetidly for ages. Ever since then gizmo has put on weight. This could be a conincidence but I worry about everything haha! So gizmo dosnt have any balls either. He has what I thought was a male 'parts' but I just thought he was late developing. He's now 10 months old and still nothing down there! Anyone know what I should do because I'm super worried and confused!

Can you post a picture of the genitals, please? How old were your boars when you got them and where did you get them from?

I got gizmo when he was 8 weeks old and I got Bruce when he was a year old. They were intoroduced in December. I got gizmo from pets at home and I got Bruce for a rescue.

He is definitely a boy - sorry, we needed to get that out of the way first and foremost!

If you are worried, have him checked by a piggy savvy vet to make sure that his testicles have properly descended. If not, it may be worth discussing with a piggy savvy vet as to how high he rates the risk of problems arising from not being descended and whether a neutering op is a smaller risk.

I am not aware of any Piggie vets near me. I live in Bristol do you know of any ?

Have a look on the vet locator at the top of the forum. Good luck.

We have a recommended UK vets locator on the top bar. As far as I know, Bristol is not a bad area for piggy savvy vets!

If you are anywhere near Highcroft in Brislington as above I was very happy with them. My boars saw Polly, she was lovely. They had 3 exotic vets there last year, I've not been recently so not if Polly is still there. (Hope she is).

Boar bits can vary greatly in size. Some boys lug around huge treasure chests, while others are a lot more discrete. If in doubt, have them checked next time you need to see a vet.

I take my piggies to Rachel in Vale Vets, Dursley if that's any use! She's amazing!

Yep - me and DoragonHinansho both take our piggies to Rachel Mowbray over in Dursley - wont take you long to get there from Bristol and I have been going to her for years from Swindon - her second in command Alison White is also very good - the prices are extremely reasonable £25 for a consult and Rachel has spayed 4 sows for me - she has her own piggies and 24 other animals including skunks and is the team vet for the Kennel clubs dog agility team and herself has won an agility Bronze medal for Great Britain in the World Dog Agilty championship in Helsinki - she is also a director of the Vet Hosptals Pet rehab centre and I'm pretty sure she is one of the partners of the practice -
