Hello

I few weeks ago I had my make Guinea pig neutered and I am wondering how long I have to wait until I put him with my females?

Thank you
Lucas

Not before a full 6 weeks has elapsed.
We have a member on here who has a baby that was a result of a boar being put in with females 5 weeks post surgery!
But it will be worth the wait.

Hi! Please wait the full 6 weeks if you want to have 100% safety.

My Tegan (the little baby in my avatar) is the daughter of a supposedly safe over 5 weeks post-op boar; not one of mine I hasten to add. But she is living proof that it can really happen as late as that and she is not the only one. There is a crucial difference between 99% and 100% safe. As it is playing the odds, it can happen to anybody.

All good UK rescues including the RSPCA practice a 6 weeks introduction wait, whether that is with their own neutered boars or introducing sows of their to adopters' neutered boars. Despite the numbers that have been neutered over the years, I have yet to hear of any accidents (believe me, the news would spread like wildfire!), so 6 weeks are definitely the 100% safety line. ;)
