Hi, I’m after a bit of advice, I have two pairs of male guinea pigs who live separately in their pairs, one pair only really tolerate each other, they don’t fight but for a few weeks now one has been chasing the other and been quite dominant but over night the behaviour has swapped, it’s now the other male chasing now and pushing the other out, is this normal and should I worry?

How long have they been together?
How old are they?
How big is their cage?
Is there multiple of everything (hides, bottles and hay piles) in the cage?
Do all hides have two exits?
Is the other backing down?
Are their weights stable at each weekly check?
Dominance is normal but the answers to these questions will give us more insight into whether it is just normal dominance or whether there is an issue/hormones/bond problems etc

Bonds In Trouble
They have been together for about 10months now, one is 2 years the other is 1 year. They have multiples of everything, they have a large chicken coop run roughly 2x2 but also outdoor space alday, they are only shut in at nighttime in the run so like I say lots of room. They have never had a fight, just been chasing, chattering, rumbling. They do backdown, it’s just weird how it’s swapped over night from one to the other doing the chasing. Both stable healthy weights.
