I have 5 year old boar and recently we've noticed the perineal sac (I think, its definitely not the actual penis) hanging out by a few centres. We tried washing it at one point in case something was stopping it going in, and eventually it retracted itself back.

On Thursday we needed to take him to the vet and decided to ask about it then, she pushed it back in but on Saturday it was back out again. Then the same day it retracted itself but today it's back out.

He's still eating, drinking, peeing and pooing as normal. He also still runs around his cage so it doesnt seem to massively be bothering him. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with a similar problem and what advice they could offer? Is there anyway to get it back in permanently?

This happens, there is a thread about it on here somewhere with piccies.

My late boy had the same problem and he was fine, it actually saved his 'bits' from debris etc, just make sure its kept clean and as debris free as is possible with a piggy!

Hello and welcome to the forum!

If you mean the skin around the opening to his willy, it's quite common and is known as cauliflower willy - if you search for that term you will find quite a few threads covering it. It's important to keep the willy clean as there may be a build up of gunk around the shaft of the penis that is stopping it retracting fully.

This link explains impaction with very graphic photos, if the problem is actually his bottom. Towards the end of the article it shows how to extrude and clean the penis.

Not the sort of thing you want to see at breakfast time LOL

LOL definitely agree about breakfast time. It's not cauliflower willy though because it hangs out a lot more rather then just slightly protruding. Had the vet take a look today and she said it could mean theres some sort of blockage in his bladder but it would require an xray to check. We've decided to leave it for now and just keep an eye on it, because the only way they could "fix" it is with an operation, but it doesn't bother him enough for us to feel the need to put him through that.

Any chance of a close up? It may be something that the forum members have seen before and can give some insight on.
