image.webp Oh dear, this was meant to be a happy post to introduce Daisy's new sister Celeste Piglet, see above, but I have had more bad news. Daisy has a mammary tumour, it's fairly big but I honestly never spotted it before tonight, the vet is confident it can be removed easily and quickly, she said as far as piggy ops go it's a good one and nothing like as invasive as Piglet's was. She feels as Dalsy is so healthy for a 7 year old we should give her a chance and do a lumpectomy, she said if the tumour is cancerous, I'm not going to find out, then it will probably recur but not for a while and if I keep a close eye on her a smaller one can be easily dealt with at a later date if she's still healthy. So another difficult choice but Daisy is a feisty little piggy and I want that horrible lump gone and out of her way. She's booked in for Thursday morning and as I was very overcharged for Pigelt the credit on my account will pay for the op and aftercare if needed, but let's hope not. Poor little Celeste, I've only had her a week and she is going to the vet with Daisy as I can't leave her home alone and the vet nurses have promised her lots of cuddles. I hope I've made the right choice for Daisy, the vet said I had but they said that for Piglet and I think it was maybe the wrong choice.

BIG HUGS

I am very sorry about the bad news! Celeste is gorgeous! Mammary tumours can come up pretty quickly, so it is not likely that you have missed it for very long.

Fingers firmly crossed for the op. All you can do is give Daisy a chance. It is always tough to go for another op again after a sad experience; I have been there too.

Thank you. Celeste is so beautiful, she's half agouti and half ginger with a gorgeous little white coronet. She's very tiny, very laid back and Daisy loved her straight away. They look so sweet snugged up together and Daisy has been encouraging her to try veggies. When I first got Celeste she was very scared and hid in a pile of hay for ages, Daisy laid by the pile of hay and gurgled to her until she ventured out. Since then Celeste has become much braver but she always runs to Daisy if anything scares her. Yesterday I found her laying on Daisy's back while Daisy was chilling, she's so light I don't think it bothered Daisy at all. The vet was very confident that a lumpectomy would be the best option, it's a quick non-invasive op so less time under anaesthetic and she thinks the tumour hasn't invaded the muscle. She's given Daisy antibiotics as a precaution as she thinks there might be an minor infection as well, Daisy took the Baytril so well I was amazed, straight down no fuss. I've packed her a little bag with all her favourite veggies and Celeste will be there when she wakes up. It's going to be tough dropping her off tomorrow so soon after Piglet but I have to give her the best chance to enjoy quality time with Celeste and it's the only way, so I'll be brave and hopefully she will come home to be the most spoiled piggie ever, lots of fresh veggies and cuddles. The overcharge on Piglets bill means I don't need to worry about paying for this one which is a bonus, I don't l know how they managed to overcharge by so much.

Fingers firmly crossed! Celeste looks gorgeous. I love little cresteds with a nose stripe; I have a few of them myself that have arrived here some way or other. Most of them are fairly laid-back, down to earth personalities once they have settled down.
Make sure that they also have some hay tomorrow.

Glad that you don't have to pay, even though overpaying is not fun!

Good news .... Daisy is fine and she's home and eating like a horse. The vet removed the horrible tumour and she has a lovely lump free tummy and only a small incision with internal stitches so it looks really neat. The vet nurses said Celeste has been stuck to Daisy's side all day and they can see how much they love each other. I think Celeste helped Daisy get better, she's a piggie Angel. My beautiful 7 year old girl is amazing and she's being the most spoiled piggy ever right now. I'm keeping a close eye on her but letting her rest, Celeste is snuggled up with her.

That is wonderful news! You must be over the moon! Wishing Daisy a smooth recovery and a very happy time with her new and caring little friend!

I am so happy, Daisy is chilling in her hut nibbling a leaf of romaine lettuce, her ultimate favourite veggie, she doesn't look as if she's been anywhere today. Celeste has ventured out to play in the hay and eat some veggies, she has such a lovely nature. The incision is so neatly stitched it just looks like a ripple on Daisy's tummy, and no horrible lump, it's all gone, she must feel so much better without it. She's booked in for a check up with lovely vet Steffi next week. My vets are the best they really are, they have 24/7 nursing care for inpatients and a nurse manned out of hours line so if I have any concerns I can call anytime.
