We've been using manuka honey where I work for a while now, it's particularly good for injuries like those in your link with large bits of skin missing.


Just don't eat it.

I've heard about the healing properties of honey before...amazing! :laluot_06:

We use it at work on people and it's a great antimicrobial agent. It can help really nasty wounds heal but some people can't tolerate it.

Great in people who've lost large skin areas due to infection etc.

I wouldn't just batter on and use it without having a wound reviewed and taking good vet advice though!

My vet uses Medical Manuka Honey on abcesses, does the trick, once it's been drained you flush it out with salt water a couple of times a day and squeeze in the honey. They can get a bit sticky though!
She was going to use it on her horse if she could find a bigger tube!
