Maple
Found our sweet old man maple in his forever sleep today
Maple was the best hamster from the beginning so sweet, gentle and friendly and never once nipped anyone! Climbed straight into our hands and hearts and didn't need any taming! I remember his first day home, we'd read all about taming but as our daughter put his food in he climbed straight onto her hand Our Ray of hope who joined us during lockdown 2020 He was known as the nicest hamster ever by us all! During lockdown he got so used to lexie working from home he would come out to see her while she was working, when she returned to school he would still come out and look for her! He'd grown frail recently but the pain meds were helping his arthritis and he even used his wheel again just last week! It came as quite a shock when he hadn't eaten and we found him gone today I'm glad he was able to live his remaining life to the full though with the metacam
Noone could ever replace you maple you were one of a kind
Forever loved and missed run free over rainbow bridge little guy!

I have had 7 hamsters over the years and they may be small but they have huge personalities. So sorry you lost him.

Everyone comes into our life for a reason. Maple was destined for you and was one of the luckiest lockdown pets to land on his little paws by making his way into your home and your hearts. He had the best life with you. Big hugs xx

Sorry for your loss. Maple lived the best life with you. Hamsters are wonderful characters. I adopted a hamster many years ago, and she was such a character that my mum was so taken with hamsters she’s adopted many since. Sleep tight Maple.

Thankyou everyone
I keep reminding myself that it hurts so much because he was so loved and that's a very good thing my small pets mean no less to me than my big ones, they are all much loved family members I've always found gaining a small animals trust and sharing a bond with them extra special we had almost two years of love, cuddles and adventures that we will treasure he was healthy until the arthritis which is expected with old age we really couldn't have asked for more! I only wished idve known it was coming so we could've said goodbye properly, him starting to use his wheel again lulled us into a false sense of security I think I did make sure his last Christmas was extra special though I knew his age was catching up and I'd lost three last year that Id never expected the previous Christmas would be their last! He was spoilt with treats and enrichment and we will cherish the memories of him exploring his new maze Christmas day

Funny story- when he hit puberty one day his bits just did not look right, being new to hamsters I was convinced something was majorly wrong and rushed him to the vets only to find out he was in tip top shape and just extremely well endowed! It still makes me laugh!
