We talked to Vedra on the Phone today, and she had a few suggestions medication wise that our Vet can try.

She thinks there is probably still some fluid in the lungs that we need to get out there. So my boyfriend is going to ring the vet today and tell him what we would like to try (Dimazon injection etc)

if that doesnt work, then we will have to go to a Rodentologist in Nottingham that Vedra recommends. (hilary, fancy meeting up?)

It makes me feel alot better that there are still people out there with suggestions on what to do, after our vet basically said they dont know what to try on Marvin anymore, they could do an Xray on his lungs, but basically we should consider if its not best for the pet not to let it suffer... >:( No. As long as Marvin is fighting, I will fight with him. He still has so much will to live, you can tell by his eyes they are still so bright, I am not just going to PTS him. I'm glad there are people like Vedra. :-*

Glad you have found Vedra :) It might help your vet to give some feedback, its not usually their fault they don't know what to do. Not all vets are interested in guineas so he may not, but its worth a try.

:)

its just that after my recent experiences (Lily), and the fact that I have heard of a vet that PTS a piggy because it was popcorning (he said something about epileptic fits) , my trust in ordinary Vets is about shattered.

:(i am sooo sorry 2 hear bout your poor marvin it reminds me so much of my piggie. She seemed to sigh when she breathed and she sort of moved up and down. She stopped eating and we took her to the breeders in hope of her getting pregaunt. the breeder gave us updates on her. but she went downhill. she couldnt breathe and she wouldnt eat at all. the vet sed he thought it was pnemoinia or a something in her chest but after a check sed it definetely pnemonia. she started to progress and the fluid went out of her lungs but one week later. Then suddenly 1 week later of getting her antibotics her lungs re-filled with fluid and she passed away during her sleep. :(

i hope you caught Marvin quick enuf. best of luck and i hope him a fast recovery.
