Here are some short clips from the last few days. It is great that three years of patient and persistent work with a bunch of very skittish piggies have brought off a fully working Tribe that is still relaxed with their human.

Has Betty had a bit of a name change?

What nibbles were they getting? They seemed very fond of them, whatever they were!

Betty and Freya have both got very similar sounding "Tribe" names for the duration - as far as they are concerned, I am calling them in a slightly funny but still recognisable way. :))

My hub is a Welshman! :)) When I rehomed Llewelyn (who was rescued in Midwales in 2007), hub wanted me to keep the rescue name - with the proper Welsh pronounciation! mallethead Llewelyn consequently became the patriarch around whom I built the Tribe; he sadly died at the beginning of last last year.

Anyway, I have subsequently named or renamed all his ladies with a Welsh name to keep the theme. I usually let the rescue people or fosterers choose their favourite name from a shortlist unless there is the wish to stick as closely to an existing name if at all possible; especially with older/beloved ex-pets who are really attached to their name (Fflur/Flower, Caron/Carron, Tegyd/Mrs Taggy, Ffraid/Freya, Bethan/Betty). I try to come up with names whose meanings suit the piggy in question.
 
My friends name is Bethan and we call her Betty for short :)

All you're pigs are beautiful.

I've got the welsh Mabinogi names Culhwch (piglord) and Olwen (white footprint) on my list of pig names but yet to have a pig with feet and a nutered boar! Maybe in the near future! :))

We've already had an Olwen... But it is a lovely name - describing the the white flowers that spring up in the foot prints of a giant's daughter.
