For once, I haven't added to the piggies. I was close - thanks to a very naughty miss Saffron having to live alone after attacking the other girls - but think I've found a solution so that I don't need to go on the search for another pig; at the moment Dexter is living with Saff, and Jas and Gwen are alone together, provided this continues to go well I don't need to go looking for any more piggies!

So, that being said, who is Oscar?

He's the softest, most loving, contented sweetheart. He's around 7 years old, this is his third home, he was originally a Romanian stray taken to Wood Green Animal Shelter, rehomed with a family, and then brought back a while later in an appalling state having seemingly been neglected. His teeth are in a terrible state, he's going back to Wood Green on 14 April for surgery to clean and extract a lot of them. (He was due to have the surgery in March but as it didn't get done, they are carrying out the treatment.)

The similarities between Oscar and our last dog Sheba (who died in Feb 09) are incredibly striking, right down to the dental problems and also the funny tail (Oscar only has half a tail). He's happy to just potter about and lap up any attention he gets, he lets the twins fuss him up and also just run around him without being particlarly interested in them - although they have been a lot better behaved since he arrived yesterday. Oscar is the perfect dog for us, without a doubt. ^)

He is just gorgeous. That last photo with him curled up is lovely.
...and OMG Laura, how clean is your kitchen? If ever you want to come and see me, please give me a week's notice. lol. xx

Oscar is gorgeous! I'm so glad he's got a loving forever home with you Laura. What does he think of the piggies? Xx)

What an absolute sweetheart - he looks right at home already! Any idea of his mix? Look forward to hearing more about him as he settles in.

Give him a hug from me, Tally and Henry

Love the pic of him snoozing - he looks completely at home already x) Fantastic that you can offer a home to a more mature dog - they are so often over looked in favour of puppies. I took Rusty, my lab, in when he was 8 years old and have never looked back - older dogs have so much to give xx>>>

Couldn't agree more about the clean kitchen - feeling very guilty now - mines covered in hay and dog hair - now going to hoover and wash floor ......................................:red

AWWW - he seems so happy to have found a new home again! :))

Fingers crossed for your girl problems!

Thank you! I'll try to add more pics, he's not keen on the camera just yet so I'll have to sneak pics when he's occupied with someone else. :)

Claire, he hasn't met the pigs yet but he knows the smell and is very intrigued. While I was cleaning them out this morning he was sat outside the safety gate. I am having to shut the door to the pigs room as well as keeping the gate closed, as he can jump right over the safety gates! With regard to other animals in general, he is ok with cats and a bit "strange" with other dogs - acts defensive and barks, but tail is wagging and he gets on just fine once he's met them. I think he'll be ok with the pigs as he is a very laid back dog.

Older dogs have always suited us, as some of you know we don't suit puppies at all as we discovered with Willow last year, so for Oscar to be at Wood Green when he was, and for him to be so like our last elderly dog, is quite something. He's settled in nicely, all he's interested in is knowing his people are there for him; toys and food come second to his people.

Re the clean kitchen, we're just that kind of family, just habit especially as we rent the house. Everywhere's kept tidy, my mum and I can't live in any sort of mess - although the twins definitely can. :))

Congrats on your new addition and what a beautiful boy he is x) He has the same gentle old face as my 12 year old girl, Billy - there's just something special in that kind of 'I could forgive you anything' look.

And my kitchen is just as tidy as yours, also - since I'm being entirely upfront and honest - I have no stretch marks, my children alllllways do as they're told, my dogs never disgrace me in public, I always say the right thing and the easter bunny is popping over tomorrow for tea and biccies :red:p:))

Enjoy our gorgeous new friend.

He is adorable Laura, I am so pleased he has a home with you now. What a very unsettled life he has had.

Aww Oscar is lovely, well done for giving him a new home. My Rose looked a bit like Oscar, bought back all my memories of my most special dog who is sadly no longer here.
