Senior Guinea Pig
For once, I haven't added to the piggies. I was close - thanks to a very naughty miss Saffron having to live alone after attacking the other girls - but think I've found a solution so that I don't need to go on the search for another pig; at the moment Dexter is living with Saff, and Jas and Gwen are alone together, provided this continues to go well I don't need to go looking for any more piggies!
So, that being said, who is Oscar?
He's the softest, most loving, contented sweetheart. He's around 7 years old, this is his third home, he was originally a Romanian stray taken to Wood Green Animal Shelter, rehomed with a family, and then brought back a while later in an appalling state having seemingly been neglected. His teeth are in a terrible state, he's going back to Wood Green on 14 April for surgery to clean and extract a lot of them. (He was due to have the surgery in March but as it didn't get done, they are carrying out the treatment.)
The similarities between Oscar and our last dog Sheba (who died in Feb 09) are incredibly striking, right down to the dental problems and also the funny tail (Oscar only has half a tail). He's happy to just potter about and lap up any attention he gets, he lets the twins fuss him up and also just run around him without being particlarly interested in them - although they have been a lot better behaved since he arrived yesterday. Oscar is the perfect dog for us, without a doubt. ^)
