india but soon shifting to US for studies. english isn’t given importance in our country ☹️

You will get lots of practice in the US. Don't let your other language(s) slip though. Where I am in the UK there is high demand for additional languages. Our receptionist speaks 3 Asian languages and is always called on to help translate for clients who have limited English.

Plus I should say not having perfect English as an additional language is still better than only having one language full stop :)) I only speak the one language, I have picked up phrases in other languages but really struggle with learning new languages

I’m learning German too, everybody says it’s difficult but I’ve never found it to be so.... It’s French that boggles my mind!

5 years of French at school, got a B at GCSE (not sure how) and all I can remember is how to say:
Please
Thank you
My name is Kelly
Turn left
Where is the swimming pool?

Not sure how far that would get me :lol!:

If you’re Scottish German is apparently easier.
We can pronounce ‘ch’ properly for a start!
Hadn't thought of that, I suppose we’ve got words like loch (which people pronounce as lock?!)
The words I struggle to pronounce the most are words ending with “chen” meaning little
E.g. Mädchen, girl
Kaninchen, rabbit
Meerschweinchen, guinea pig
In German guinea pig translates literally to little sea pig!

Speak slowly and carefully to start with so that brain and tongue learn to work together with unfamiliar sounds.
It will come
