Have just seen a couple of lovely vintage looking trays on amazon which I would love to get for the girls to use as a hay tray. They're made out of melamine and just wanted to double check if there was any safety reason they shouldn't be used for this purpose eg chewing them?

Hope the link works! Not sure how to post photos.

The link isn't working for me - just takes me to the Amazon homepage.

Do you mean melamine as in that specific sort of plastic, or do you mean melamine as in plastic-coated-chipboard? If the former than that would be fine as it's completely inert and used for a lot of children's plastic crockery. But you saying vintage makes me think the latter as chipboard is used in a lot of vintage products - my worry with that would be the joints, and how easily urine could seep in and slowly disintegrate the chipboard.

Pretty sure it's the plastic stuff, almost like picnic plates etc. They'd be fine I'm sure.

That's exactly the ones! Will keep an eye on them whilst they're using it.
