It's been too painful to write about but I sadly had to send Meleri (named after St David's grandmother) to rejoin Gareth at the Rainbow Bridge a week ago when she failed to respond to her meds and quickly deteriorated over the weekend. The timing of her illness in the middle of the car fuel supply crisis couldn't have been more unfortunate.

Meleri did come here as a baby together with her sister Miaren via an unplanned pregnancy on The Guinea Pig Forum as potential company for Beryn (who was - literally - scared stiff of them) in December 2017.

After a short stay with very gentle Briallen and Barri, Millie and Mimi eventually settled in well with dominant Teggy and gentle Gareth. Miaren went off on her own to set up house with newly neutered Llelo in 2019 but Meleri stayed on in a closely bonded trio.

Millie was a smallish but feisty sow who made her presence well known and who had the habit of climbing on Teggy's or Gareth's back when begging for food to not be overlooked. It was quite a show whatching the three of them! She started her stay here with squeezing through a normal C&C grid into the neighbouring cage...

Meleri needed one eye removed in April when a very strong abscess caused a chronic eye infection inside the eye and then turned fully blind on her remaining eye (which only had partial sight left anyway) at the same time Gareth passed way. Teggy has sadly lost both her younger companions in just a month.

Enjoy the sights at the Rainbow Bridge and be nice to long-suffering Gareth, please!
